Vote to pass a bill that establishes safety standards for carbon monoxide alarms in child care centers and family child care homes.

Highlights:

• Requires that all child care centers or family child care homes that utilize fossil-fuel-burning heater or appliance, fireplace or an attached garage have a centrally located and approved carbon monoxide alarm installed within the next 18 months (Sec. 4).

• Authorizes the department to take action against a child care center or family child care home if they do not install a carbon monoxide detector (Sec. 5). 

• Requires the department to provide written notice of these requirements to each child care center or family child care home within 12 months (Sec. 6).
