Vote to pass a bill that establishes educational tools to spot warning signs of eating disorders.

Highlights:

• Requires schools to provide information about eating disorders awareness and education for kids in grade 6th-12 for parents, guardians, and key school personnel (Sec. 1426).  

• Requires this information be provided over email, first class mail, the school’s website (Sec. 1426). 

• Require the department of education and the department of health work together to create educational materials about eating disorders and make recommendations on how to provide information regarding eating disorder awareness and education to parents, guardians, and key school personnel (Sec. 1426). 

• Requires that the educational materials recommended follow these guidelines (Sec. 1426): 

• Be developed with input from the eating disorder advisory committee; 

• Be posted on the department's website in a variety of languages; 

• Explain the importance of eating disorder prevention education and resources; and 

• List the warning signs, risk factors, and resources about eating disorders. 

• Requires the secretary to establish the eating disorder advisory committee, who will make recommendations regarding eating disorder awareness and education, including the different types and warning signs (Sec. 1426).
