Vote to amend and pass a bill that prohibits tracking devices on motor vehicles without consent.

Highlights:

• Prohibits tracking devices on motor vehicles without consent (Sec. 1).

• Defines “tracking device” as an electronic or mechanical device that is designed or intended to allow an individual to remotely determine or track the position or movement of another individual or object, regardless of whether the information is recorded (Sec. 1).

• Exempts the following installation or use of any (Sec. 1):

• Tracking device providing mechanical, operational, directional, navigation, whether, or traffic information to the operator or the vehicle;

• Tracking device providing emergency or diagnostic information or assistance to the driver or passengers;

• Tracking device providing information to the owner of the vehicle if the car is leased or driven by a minor;

• Tracking device by a police officer while lawfully performing their duties.

• Specifies that this bill shall take effect March 31, 2023 (Sec. 2).
