Vote to pass a bill that appropriates $23 billion for the state education budget through fiscal year 2027.
Appropriates $23 billion for the state education budget through fiscal year 2027 (Sec. 1).
Requires all school districts and charter schools in the state provide students access to menstrual products at no charge to students and families (Sec. 1).
Defines “menstrual products” as pads, tampons, or other similar products used in connection with the menstrual cycle (Sec. 1).
Requires all school districts and charter schools in the state provide students access to opiate antagonists including 2 doses of nasal naloxone available on-site at no charge to students and families (Sec. 2).
Increases public school funding by a total of 10.6 percent over the next 2 years through fiscal year 2025 and a 16 percent bump in the next 2 years thereafter through fiscal year 2027 (Sec. 3).
Increases per pupil funding in the general education formula budget for 2024 by 4 percent and 2 percent in 2025 for a total increase of $710 million and links the increases to state inflation (Sec. 4).
Appropriates $730 million to reduce school district expenses for special education (Sec. 7).
Appropriates $82 million to cover costs of english-learner education in districts with the highest need (Sec. 7).
