Vote to pass a bill that prohibits large tech companies and social media platforms from censoring content based on viewpoint.

Highlights:

• Requires social media platforms to disclose its content management, data management, and business practices in a way that is easily accessible to the public (Sec. 3).

• Requires the disclosed information includes specific information on the way the social media platform curates and targets content to users, the way it promotes content, services, and products, the way it moderates content, the way it uses search, ranking or other algorithms to produce that determine the results on the platforms, and provide users' performance data on the social media platforms and its products (Sec. 3). 

• Requires social media platforms to publish an acceptable use policy that (Sec. 3):

• Inform users about the type of content allowed on the platform; 

• Explain the steps the social media platform will take to ensure that constant complies with the acceptable use policy; 

• Explain the ways in which users can report content that breaks the acceptable use policy; and 

• Is easily accessible to the public. 

• Requires social media platforms to provide an easily accessible complaint system that users can submit and track complaints through (Sec. 6).

• Requires once social media platforms receive a complaint regarding illegal content they look into the legitimacy of that complaint within 48 hours (Sec. 7). 

• Requires that social media platforms do the following when removing content (Sec. 8): 

• Notify the user who posted the removed content and explain why the content was removed 

• Allow the user to appeal the removal of their content; and 

• Provide written notice to the user who posted the content of the appeal division.
