Title: Increases Restrictions on Information the State Auditor's Office can Obtain During Investigations
Vote to pass a bill that increases restrictions on information the State Auditor's Office can obtain during investigations.
Increases restrictions on information the State Auditor's Office can obtain during investigations to the following, including, but not limited to prohibiting access to (Sec. 3):
An Individual's income tax returns;
Information in a report to the Iowa Department of Public Health, or local department identifying an individual with a reported disease;
Criminal identification files of law enforcement agencies;
Personal information records regarding a student, prospective student, or former student maintained, created, or collected by a school;
Hospital records, medical records, and professional records or their condition, care, treatment, and diagnosis;
Attorney records which relate to litigation claims made against a public body;
Law enforcement investigations, reports, or privileged records; or
Records and information obtained or held by an independent special counsel.
Exempts state auditor investigations that involve embezzlement and theft from the aforementioned prohibitions (Sec. 3).
