Title: Restructures Iowa State Government Cabinet Positions
Vote to pass a bill that restructures Iowa State Government by consolidating it into 16 cabinet-level government agencies instead of the current 37.
Reduces the current number of cabinet-level government agencies from 37 down to 16 (Sec. 2795, Pg. 1507).
Restructures state vocational rehabilitation services for Iowans with disabilities from being under the Department of Education to Iowa Workforce Development (Sec. 39, Pg. 21).
Increases the state attorney general office’s exclusive jurisdiction to prosecute election-related cases (Sec. 12, Pg. 8).
Amends state code to specify that the state attorney general is authorized to prosecute cases around the state without needing the request of a county attorney (Sec. 368, Pg. 402).
Amends the leadership structure of the Iowa Department of the Blind to allow the governor to appoint the department director, which currently is appointed by a 3-member commission for the Blind who are appointed by the governor (Sec. 2479, Pg. 1,369).
Increases the governor’s authority and power over the appointment, firing, and salary levels of certain current top-level state government employees (Sec. 2795, Pg. 1507).
