Vote to pass a bill that establishes a state goal of having 100 percent carbon-free energy by 2040.

Highlights:

• Defines “carbon-free” as a technology that generates electricity without emitting carbon dioxide (Sec. 3).

• Establishes the following state goals for carbon-free energy by following dates, including (Sec. 10):

• 80 percent for all public utilities and 60 percent for other electric utilities by 2030;

• 90 percent for all electric utilities by 2035;

• 100 percent for all electric utilities by 2040.
