Vote to concur with senate amendments and pass a bill that prohibits the sale, manufacture, delivery and purchase of assault weapons across the state.

Highlights:

 

  • Prohibits the sale, manufacture, delivery, and purchase of assault weapons and various accessory devices such as large ammunition feeding devices in the state of Illinois unless the individual is a member or veteran of military services or former or current law enforcement (Sec. 3).

  • Exempts assault weapons and accessory devices sold, manufactured, delivered, or purchased before the enactment of this bill (Sec. 3).

  • Requires that assault gun owners that move into the state after this bills enactment date to register their firearm with the Illinois State Police within 60 days (Sec. 24-1.10).

  • Specifies that any individual found to of violated the aforementioned provisions shall be guilty of a petty offense and fine of $1,000 for each violation (Sec. 24-1.10).

  • Establishes that this bill shall become effective upon becoming signed into law (Sec. 99).
