Title: Prohibits "Endangerment" of Public Safety Officials
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that prohibits the "endangerment" of public safety officials.
Specifies that “endangerment of a public official” is committed if a person knowingly or intentionally communicates or publishes through social media restricted personal information of a public safety official or their family with (Sec. 1):
Reckless disregard that the information may be used to threaten, intimidate, or be used in a crime against the public official or their family; or
The intent that the information will be used to threaten, intimidate, or be used in a crime against the public official or their family.
Specifies that an offense that results in the bodily injury to a public safety official or a member of their family shall constitute a second-degree felony (Sec. 1).
Defines “restricted personal information” as a public safety member’s image, name, social security number, home address, home or mobile phone number, personal email, or home fax number (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this act will take effect in 90 days after its passage (Sec. 2).
