Vote to concur with House amendments to pass a bill that establishes online requirements for dating apps, training for domestic violence, and a grant for online abuse.
Requires online dating operators to notify Connecticut users regarding criminal background checks (Page 2).
Requires such operators to provide safety awareness notifications on platform, including statements similar to “Use caution when communicating with a stranger who wants to meet you”, etc (Page 3).
Authorizes fines up to $25,000 per operator violation (Page 4).
Establishes grant program “to provide educational and training opportunities with the goal of preventing online abuse and informing individuals about identifying, reporting, responding to and avoiding online abuse” (Page 5).
Requires state agencies to provide “training and education related to domestic violence” (Page 15).
Prohibits employment discrimination against victims of domestic violence (Page 18).
Requires workplace accomodations, including “reasonable” leaves of absence, for victims of domestic violence (Page 22).
