Vote to pass a bill that requires the release of individuals from utility, phone and television contracts in instances of domestic violence.
Establishes that every utility, wireless, and telephone corporation, shall allow a person who is under contract to opt-out of such contract without a fee or penalty if that person is a victim of domestic violence (Sec. 1).
Specifies that utility, wireless, and telephone corporations shall make this information readily available to customers (Sec. 1).
Specifies that customers requesting such accommodation shall provide evidence or proof of their eligibility in writing (Sec. 1).
Establishes that an officer, director, employee, vendor or agent of a corporation shall not be subject to liability for any claims arising from an action taken regarding their attempts to assist a victim with their contract (Sec. 1).
Specifies that a victim of domestic violence shall not be required by a corporation to disclose confidential information or details relating to their status as a domestic violence victim (Sec. 1).
