Vote to override a governors veto and pass a bill that prohibits transgender girls from playing on female sports teams.

Highlights:

• Requires interscholastic, intercollegiate, intramural, or club athletic teams or sports of public elementary, secondary schools, and postsecondary educational institutions whose students or teams compete against another school to be expressly designated as one of the following based on biological sex (Sec. 2):

• Males, mens, or boys;

• Females, women, or girls; or

• Coed or mixed.

• Prohibits athletic teams or sports designated for females, women, or girls, from being open to students of the male sex (Sec. 2).

• Prohibits any governmental entity, licensing or accrediting organization, or athletic association or organization from entertaining a complaint, opening an investigation, or take any other adverse action against a school for maintaining seperate interscholastic, intercollegiate, intramural, or club athletic teams or sports for students of the femal sex (Sec. 3).

• Authorizes any student or school who was deprived of an athletic opportunity and suffers any direct or indirect harm as a result of a violation of Section 2 or 3 of this bill to have a private cause for action for injunctive relief, damages, and any other relief available under law (Sec. 4).

• Requires that all civil actions be initiated within 2 years of the harm occurring, and specifies that an individual or organization who prevails on a claim brought because of this bill to be entitled to monetary damages, including or psychological, emotional, and physical harm suffered (Sec. 4).
