Title: Amends Medical Debt Collection Process
Vote to pass a bill that amends the medical debt collection process.
Requires the health care facility to provide each patient a final notice before extraordinary collection action of interest or fees are charged (Page 4).
Prohibits the health care provider from charging any interest, fees, or other charges until at least 60 days have passed from the date of receipt of the final notice (Page 4).
Prohibits any person from engaging in any type of extraordinary collection action against a patient unless the final notice includes the name of the third-party payor, the patient's group number, and the last four digits of the patient’s membership number (Page 5).
