Vote to pass a bill that grants state and local officials inherent authority to investigate, identify, apprehend, arrest, detain, or transfer undocumented immigrants to Federal custody as well as clarifies specific litigation issues.
- Expresses the sense of Congress that the Attorney General should implement uniform guidelines for prosecuting human smuggling offenses and increase the number of attorneys prosecuting cases concerning human smuggling and employment (Sec. 201).
- Calls on courts to limit nonmonetary damages awarded in civil action cases against the government to the necessary minimum and to minimize the impact on national security (Sec. 301).
