Vote to adopt a conference report and pass a bill that prohibits state and local election officials from soliciting or accepting private funds.

Highlights:

 

  • Prohibits any state or local official or agency responsible for conducting elections from soliciting, accepting, or using any donations in the form of (Sec. 1):

    • Money;

    • Grants;

    • Property; or

    • Personal services.

  • Prohibits any donations to said officials or agencies from going to (Sec. 1):

    • Election-related funds;

    • Voter education;

    • Voter outreach; or

    • Voter registration programs.

  • Authorizes any individual to contribute their time to the aforementioned items as long as they do not receive any compensation or in-kind donation (Sec. 1).

  • Authorizes the donation and acceptance of spaces to be used as polling places (Sec. 1).

  • Requires this bill to go into effect and be enforced starting July 1, 2022 (Sec. 2).
