Title: Establishes Electric Vehicle Requirements for State Vehicles
Vote to pass a bill that establishes electric vehicle requirements for state vehicles.
Prohibits the purchase or procurement of any diesel-fueled transit bus after January 1, 2024 (Page 3).
Requires 50% of such vehicles to be battery operated by 2026, 75% to be battery operated by 2028, and 100% by 2030 (Page 3).
Authorizes plan to implement zero-emission buses statewide (Page 4).
Specifies that if these requirement are not met by January 1, 2026, the commissioner will submit a report to the joint standing committees of the General Assembly explaining (Page 5):
Why such requirements were not met and;
An alternative schedule to meet such requirements after considering available appropriations.
Requires the prioritization of disadvantaged communities in the provision of rebates or vouchers for all battery operated vehicles (Page 18).
Authorizes rebates and vouchers for electric bicycles (Page 19).
Requires school building plans to provide additional electric vehicle charging stations (Page 33).
