Vote to pass a bill that reduces regulations on dwelling units to allow increased living options for senior citizens.

Highlights:

• Defines an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) as a residential living unit that (Sec. 1):

• Is on a parcel with another unit primary for residential use; and

• Provides complete independent living facilities for one or more people.

• Repeals utility and modification restrictions on ADU structures (Sec. 2).

• Prohibits municipalities from imposing excessive restrictions on ADUs, including (Sec. 3):

• Requiring infrastructure improvements;

• Charging unreasonable fees to create tha ADU; and

• Imposing dimension requirements that preclude the creation of ADUs.

• Authorizes municipalities to count ADUs towards meeting their affordable housing goals, for 0.5 housing units each, provided that (Sec. 5):
