Title: Increases Requirements for Labor Unions

Vote to pass a bill that increases requirements for labor unions.

Highlights:

 

  • Requires public employees intending to join a union sign an authorization form that contains the the following right-to-work statement  “I acknowledge and understand that Florida is a right-to-work state and that union membership is not required as a condition of employment. I understand that union membership and payment of union dues and assessments are voluntary and that I may not be discriminated against in any manner if I refuse to join or financially support a union.” (Sec. 1).

  • Requires unions allow public employees to end their membership via written request and prohibits employers from deducting union dues from employees’ wages (Sec. 1).

  • Amends collective bargaining agent recertification and union registration renew requirements (Sec. 1).

  • Exempts unions that represent law enforcement, correctional officers, and firefighters from the aforementioned requirements (Sec. 1).
