Title: Increases Prevention Measures and Penalties for Healthcare Workers Assault
Vote to pass a bill that increases prevention measures and penalties for healthcare worker assault.
Defines “health care worker” an an indidivual employed by or contracted to work at a health care institution or employed to provide health care or related services in a field work setting, including (Sec. 1):
Home health care;
Home-based hospice;
Home-based social work; or
Any emergency services and transport worker.
Exempts a worker who is privately employed or contracted by an individual in their residence to perform covered services for the individual or a family member (Sec. 1).
Requires health care employers develop, implement, and maintain a written violence prevention plan by July 1, 2023 (Sec. 2).
Defines “health care employer” as a health care institution such as a hospital, freestanding emergency services facility or urgent care facility that has 50 or more employees (Sec. 2).
