Title: Authorizes the Children of Military Members to Enroll in Public School Prior to State Residency
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the children of military members to enroll in public school virtually prior to State residency.
Authorizes a student who is not an Alabama resident to enroll in State K-12 public schools virtually prior to residency, if the following apply (Sec. 1, Pg. 2):
If a parent or legal guardian is on active military duty, is transfered, or is pending transfer to a military installation or reservation in the State;
If the parent or legal guardian provides the official military order upon request by the local board of education; and
If the parent or guardian submits the required forms and documents to the board, with the exception of proof of residency.
Requires the local board of education to make the enrollment registration form available and all the same course application opportunities for the above qualifying students (Sec. 1, Pg. 3).
Specifies that this act takes effect upon the 1st day of the 3rd month after passage and approval (Sec. 2, Pg. 3).
