Title: Repeals Concealed Carry Firearms Safety Training Requirement in Some Cases
Vote to pass a bill that repeals concealed carry firearms safety training requirement in some cases.
Requires sheriffs to waive the requirement of repeating firearm safety training if an individual applies to renew their concealed firearm carry permit no more than 60 days after the permit expires (Sec. 1).
Requires sheriffs to waive the repeated safety training requirement if an individual applies to renew their permit later than 60 days after expiration but no later than 180 days, so long as all of the following are satisfied (Sec. 1).
That the individual completes a refresher course on the laws governing use or carry of firearms in the State, and has the results certified by a qualified entity; and
That the individual submits to the sheriff a document confirming that they have completed the refresher course.
Specifies that this act takes effect October 1, 2021, or upon being signed into law (Sec. 2).
