Title: Establishes a Department of Transportation Program to Reduce Emissions
Vote to pass a bill that establishes a Department of Transportation program to reduce emissions.
Requires the Department of Transportation to establish a program that (Sec. 1):
Assesses greenhouse gas impact of the department’s construction and maintenance activities; and
Devises unique greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategies for each state transportation region given resource availability.
Requires contractors to submit environmental impact reports to the Department of Transportation before infrastructure projects are completed (Sec. 1).
Establishes a volunteer technical advisory committee consisting of representatives from the Department of Transportation, manufacturing companies, environmental advocacy groups, and institutions of higher education to provide advice regarding the emissions reduction program (Sec. 2).
Requires the Department of Transportation to submit an annual report on the status of the emission reduction program (Sec. 3).
