Title: Establishes the One Day Rest in Seven Act
Vote to pass a bill that establishes the one day rest in seven act.
Requires that employers provide each employee at least 24 consecutive hours of rest for every 7 day period (Sec. 1):
Specifies exemptions for emergency services, agriculture, and mining industries, as well as for part-time employees.
Requires that employers provide each employee working 7.5 hours a 20-minute meal period, and an additional 20-minute break for each additional 4.5 consecutive hours worked (Sec. 2):
Specifies exemptions for emergency services employees required to be on call for 8 hours.
Establishes a $250 to $500 fine per employee for violation of the act, payable to the employee(s) affected (Sec. 3).
Requires employers to post a notice detailing the provisions of this act at the workplace (Sec. 4).
