Vote to pass a bill that prohibits chemical abortions also known as abortion pills.

Highlights:

• Prohibits the manufacturement, distribution, prescription, dispensement, sale, transfer, or use of any chemical abortion drug in the state for the purpose of performing and abortion (Sec. 1).

• Exempts the following from the aforementioned prohibitions, including (Sec. 1):

• Sale or use of any prescription or admisntration of any contraceptive agent adminstrered before conception or before pregnany can be confirmed through conventional medical testing;

• The treatment of a natureal miscarriage according to currently accepted medical guidelines;

• Treatment necessary to protect the pregnent individual from imminent peril that substantially endangers her life.

• Defines “imminent peril” to mean exclusively a physical, and not mental condition (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits any medical treatment from being performed if it is based on a claim or diagnosis that the pregnany individual will engage in conduct that is intended to result in their death or other self-harm (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that any physician or individual found to have violated this act shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by either a fine of $9,000, 6 month prison term, or both (Sec. 1).

• Defines “chemical abortion drug” as RU-486, mifepristone, misoprostol, mifeprex, mifegyne, or any substantially similar generic or non-generic drug or chemical dispensed for purposes of causing an abortion (Sec. 2).

• Establishes that this act shall take effect July 1, 2022 (Sec. 3).
