Vote to pass a bill that expands police uses for civil asset forfeiture funds

Highlights:

• Expands the use of civil asset forfeiture funds for any law enforcement purpose, including, but not limited to (Sec. 1):

• To conduct criminal investigations, surveillance, arrests, and prosecutions;

• To defray the costs of protracted or complex investigations;

• To educate the public in crime prevention techniques;

• To promote community outreach;

• To provide diversity training for law enforcement officers;

• To establish and implement minority selection and recruitment programs; or

• To provide additional technical assistance or expertise which may include the purchase of surveillance and undercover transportation and investigation equipment.

• Specifies that this act shall take effect immediately upon passage and signage into law (Sec. 2).
