Vote to amend and pass a bill that limits participation in women's sports on the basis of one's sex assigned at birth

Highlights:

• Requires interscholastic, intercollegiate, intramural, and club teams or sports that are sponsored by a public elementary or secondary or postsecondary institutions have the following league team designations (Sec. 3):

• Males, men, or boys;

• Females, women, or girls; or

• Coed or mixed, including both males and females.

• Prohibits athletic teams or sports designated for males, men, or boys from being open to students of the female sex, unless no team designated for females in that sport is offered at the school in which the student is enrolled (Sec. 3).

• Prohibits athletic teams designated for females, women, or girls, from being open to students of the male sex (Sec. 3).

• Requires that privates schools comply with the aforementioned regulations (Sec. 3).

• Authorizes a student who is wrongfully deprived of athletic opportunity or suffers any direct or indirect harm as a result of a violation of this act to initiate a cause of action against a school or postsecondary institution (Sec. 3).

• Specifies that this bill takes effect upon approval by the Governor (Sec. 6).
