Title: Requires Knowledge of Coerced Abortions for Women Seeking Abortion
A vote to pass a bill that requires all women seeking an abortion be informed that a coerced abortion is illegal.
Prohibits any physician from coercing a pregnant individual to have an abortion (Sec. 4).
Requires that pregnant individuals who is over the age of 18 be advised on abortion coercsion methods prior to their decision concerning their pregnancy termination (Sec. 4).
Requires an individual become a mandatory reporter if, during their professional role as a referring physician, physician assistant, advanced practice registered nurse, or certified nurse midwife suspects that a pregnant individual is being coerced into having an abortion (Sec. 4).
Defines “mandatory reporter” to include any of the following professions in health care services, including (Sec. 5):
A physician or surgeon;
A physical therapist;
A psychiatrist or psychologist;
A medical resident or intern;
Hospital staff;
Licensed nurse or nurse aide;
Any emergency medical technician;
Paramedic; or
Any employee, staff member, or volunteer at a reproductive health care facility.
Specifies that any individual found to of knowingly or intentionally coercing a pregnant individual into having an abortion shall be guilty of a Level 6 felony (Sec. 5).
