Title: Requires K-12 Students to Use Bathroom Corresponding with Sex on Birth Certificate
A vote to pass a bill that requires all students in public K-12 schools use the bathroom based on the sex on their birth certificate.
Requires all students in public K-12 schools use the multiple occupancy changing area and restrooms based on their biological sex (Sec. 1).
Defines “biological sex” as the physical condition of being male or female as stated on the indviduals original birth certificate (Sec. 1).
Defines “multiple occupancy changing area” as an area in a public k-12 school building designated to be used by more than one individual student at a time, where students may be in various stages of undress in the presence of other students or individuals (Sec. 1).
Exempts individuals entering a multiple occupancy restroom or changing area for the following purposes, including, but not limited to (Sec. 1):
For custodial purposes;
For maintenance or inspection purposes;
To render medical assistance;
To accompany a student needing assistance when the accompanying individual is an employee of the local board of education or the student’s parent or authorized caregiver;
To receive assistance in using the area; or
When the restroom has been temporarily designated for use by that individual’s biological sex.
Establishes that this act shall take effect 3 months after its passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 2).
