Title: Establishes Further Definitions of Healthcare Professionals

Vote to pass a bill that establishes further definitions of healthcare professionals.

Highlights:

 

  • Amends the qualification requirements for respiratory therapist, perfusionist, genetic counselor, prosthetists, orthotists, pedorthists, orthotic fitters, Medical imaging professionals, and Radiation therapists and radiologists assistants, including, but not limited to (Sec. 3-4):

    • Having been assessed via individual assessment following criminal conviction as having the moral character necessary for the profession;

    • Is over 18 years of age and has a high school diploma or its equivalent;

    • Submits the application and required fee as required by the board of regulation; 

    • Satisfactorily completes a course of study in the required courses for the aforementioned professions; and

    • Passes all applicable professional exams required for the career.

  • Repeals provisions relating to radiological procedures and education and training required (Sec. 5-6).

  • Specifies that this act shall take effect 60 days after its passage into law (Sec. 8).
