Title: Amends State Congressional Districts

Vote to pass a bill that amends state congressional districts.

Highlights:

 

  • Establishes the Illinois Congressional Redistricting Act of 2021 which required each district to (Sec. 5):

    • Be drawn to be equal in population; and

    • Be consistent with the United States Constitution; and

    • Be drawn to be consistent with the federal Voting Rights Act, where Applicable; and

    • Be drawn to be consistent with the Illinois Constitution; and

    • Be drawn taking into account the partisan composition of the District and of the Plan itself.

  • Establishes the State of Illinois into 17 Congressional Districts (Sec. 10).

  • Prohibits the Congressional Districts created by this Act for the purpose of electing Representatives to the House of Representatives of the United States Congress from being altered by operation of any other statute, ordinance, or resolution (Sec. 20).

  • Establishes the Illinois Congressional Reapportionment Act of 2001 as repealed (Sec. 90).

  • Require this Act takes effect upon becoming law (Sec. 99).
