Title: Amends State Congressional Districts

Vote to pass a bill that amends state congressional districts.

Highlights:

 

  • Establishes that for the purpose of nominating and electing members of the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2022 and periodically thereafter, the State of North Carolina shall be divided into the 120 different districts (Sec. 1). 

  • Authorizes each district to elect one Representative (Sec. 1).

  • Establishes the names and boundaries of voting tabulation districts and blocks as shown on the Census Redistricting Data TIGER/Line Shapefiles associated with the most recent federal decennial census (Sec. 1).

  • Authorizes that if any voting tabulation district boundary is changed, that change shall not change the boundary of a House district, which shall remain the same as it is depicted by the Census Redistricting Data TIGER/Line Shapefiles associated with the most recent federal decennial census (Sec. 1).

  • Authorizes this act to be effective when it becomes law and applies to elections held on or after January 1, 2022 (Sec. 2).
