Title: PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act
Vote to pass a bill that expands workplace protections for employees with a need to express breast milk.
Expands the requirement that employers provide the following accommodations for employees with a need to express breast milk, including that they (Sec. 2):
Provide a reasonable break time for an employee to express breast milk each time they need to express breast milk for the following 2 year period; and
Provide a place other than a bathroom, that is shielded from view and free from intrusion from coworkers and the public which may be used by an employee.
Specifies that the aforementioned accommodations extend to both salaried and hourly employees (Sec. 2).
Requires that the time spent to express breast milk be considered hours worked if the individual is also working (Sec. 2).
Extends the timeline for employer compliance with the aforementioned requirements from a one to a 2 year grace period (Sec. 2).
Requires that an aggrieved employee notify their employer that they are not in compliance with the aforementioned requirements and give them 10 days to provide the required accommodations before claiming liability against their employer (Sec. 2).
