Title: Expands Access to COVID-19 Data in Order to be Available to the Public

Vote to pass a bill that expands access to COVID-19 data in order to make available to the public.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits health authorities from disclosing reports of disease, any records maintained as a result of any action taken in consequence of this report, or any other records maintained on an individual who is not a member of the department or a local board or department of health, unless under the following circumstances, including (Sec. 1):

    • When necessary to carry out the purpose of this act; or

    • When necessary to inform the public of the risk of a communicable disease.

  • Authorizes state and local health authorities to permit the use of data contained in disease reports and other records maintained under this act, for specific research purposes and under the strict supervision of health authories (Sec. 1).

  • Specifies that any records or reports of disease, and any action taken as a result of aforementioned reports and records shall be subject to the act known as the Right-to-Know Law (Sec. 1).

 

  • Specifies that this act shall take effect 60 days after passage (Sec. 2).
