Title: Appropriates Funds for Broadband Internet Infrastructure for Marginalized Groups
Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funds for broadband internet infrastructure for marginalized groups in the state.
Appropriates $15 million for the fiscal year 2021-2022 to the ConnectMaine Authority for broadband internet infrastructure development to benefit (Sec. 1):
Marginalized groups, including historically disadvantaged:
Racial;
Indigenous; and
Tribal communities;
Individuals who were formerly incarcerated or unhoused;
Individuals in substance use disorder recovery; and
Low-income individuals.
Requires the ConnectMaine Authority to consult with organizations representing these aforementioned marginalized groups when making determinations on fund distributions (Sec. 1).
