Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funds for broadband internet infrastructure for marginalized groups in the state.

Highlights:

• Appropriates $15 million for the fiscal year 2021-2022 to the ConnectMaine Authority for broadband internet infrastructure development to benefit (Sec. 1):

• Marginalized groups, including historically disadvantaged: 

• Racial;

• Indigenous; and 

• Tribal communities;

• Individuals who were formerly incarcerated or unhoused;

• Individuals in substance use disorder recovery; and

• Low-income individuals.

• Requires the ConnectMaine Authority to consult with organizations representing these aforementioned marginalized groups when making determinations on fund distributions (Sec. 1).
