Title: Requires Health Insurers Cover Cost of Doula Services for Expectant Mothers
Vote to pass a bill that requires health insurers cover the cost of doula services for expectant mothers.
Defines “doula” as a trained professional providing continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a pregnant individual, from antepartum intrapartum, and up the first 12 weeks of postpartum period (Sec. 2).
Specifies that Doulas also provide assistance by referring childbearing individuals to community-based organizations and certified and licensed perinatal professionals in multiple disciplines (Sec. 2).
Requires that every individual or group health insurance contract, medical expense insurance policy, plan, or group policy cover doula services (Sec. 2).
