Vote to pass a bill that requires DHS to give Medicaid reimbursements to hospitals providing custodial care and authorizes healthcare providers licensed in other states/territories to provide services for which they are licensed in Wisconsin.

Highlights:

 

  • Requires any hospital-associated service that is provided by a hospital and could be claimed as an inpatient hospital service under Medicare to be reimbursed or paid as an inpatient service under this section (Sec. 1B).

  • Requires the department to semiannually provide any health care data aggregator all Medical Assistance program fee-for-service and managed care encounter claims data and data specifications maintained by the department (Sec. 2B).

  • Authorizes a health care provider to provide services within the scope of their credentials to be granted a temporary credential by the department to practice if the following apply (Sec. 6):

    • The health care provider applies to the department for a temporary credential within 30 days of beginning to provide their services including the following (Sec. 6.1):

      • The date on which the health care provider first provided services in the state;

      • A valid, unexpired credential granted in another state;

      • No restrictions, limitations, or investigations are placed on their credentials; and

      • They have applied for a permanent credential granted by the department or an examining board.

    • If the health care provider provides services other than those through telehealth, they must attest to all of the following to the department within 10 days of the date they can provide services (Sec. 6.2):

      • There is confirmation that they hold a valid, unexpired credential granted by another state; and

      • There are no restrictions, limitations, or investigations placed on their credentials.

  • Specifies that temporary credentials expire on the date the department or an examining board grants it (Sec. 6).

  • Authorizes a health care provider to provide their services through telehealth with their temporary credentials in this state (Sec. 6.3).
