Vote to pass a bill that prohibits pet shops from selling dogs, cats, and rabbits.

Highlights:

• Defines "pet dealer" as any person who, in the ordinary course of business, engages in the sale or offering for sale of more than nine animals per year for profit to the public. This definition includes breeders of animals who sell or offer for sale animals directly to a consumer but it does not include any retail pet shops (Sec. 4).

• Prohibits a retail pet shop from selling, leasing, offering to lease, offering to sell, bartering, auctioning, or otherwise transferring ownership of any dog, cat or rabbit (Sec. 753-f).
