Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill that requires the national anthem be played at all sporting events.

Highlights:

• Prohibits a government entity from entering an agreement requiring a financial commitment unless (Sec. 2274.002):

• The agreement includes written verification that the professional sports team will play the national anthem at the beginning of each of their games; and 

• The agreement includes a provision that failure to comply with the above provision results in a penalty of some form.

• Specifies that penalties might include having to repay the government entity, or being barred from future aid from the government entity (Sec. 2274.002 B).

• Requires that government entities adhere strictly to the above provisions (Sec. 2274.003).
