Vote to pass a bill that establishes that certain zones in Brooklyn are cease and desist zones

Highlights:

• Authorizes the legislature to enable the Secretary of State to create "cease and desist zones" if owners within the zone "are subject to intense and repeated solicitation" to place their property for sale (Sec. 1).

• Alleges the cease and desist program is a valuable tool for homeowners that are inundated with solicitations for their home, and it has been a proven success in cease and desist zones in the counties of Queens, Bronx and Rockland (Sec. 1).

• Requires the secretary of state to conduct a public hearing and reasonable investigation of intense and repeated solicitation of owners of residential real property in the county of Kings within 90 days of the effective date of this act (Sec. 1-2).

• Specifies if, within one year of this act, the secretary of state does not establish a cease and desist zone in the county of Kings, the secretary of state shall prepare and submit to the governor, the temporary president of the senate, the speaker of the assembly, the minority leader of the senate and the minority leader of the assembly a report containing the detailed findings of the public hearing and investigation (Sec. 1-3).
