Vote to pass a bill that requires abortion providers to complete an ultrasound to show pregnant women the fetus before they can receive an abortion.

Highlights:

• Requires abortion providers to do the following before performing an abortion (Sec. 1) 

• Conduct an ultrasound on the patient looking to get an abortion;

• Orally inform and describe to the patient the images being depicted;

• Document in the woman’s medical record that the ultrasound images were shown and orally described to the woman; and

• Retain the ultrasound images in the woman’s medical file

• Establishes the following fines and penalties for abortion facilities and/or physicians if they violate the provisions of the bill (Sec. 1) 

• $1500 for the first violation in a 36 months; 

• $3000 for the second violation in 36 months; 

• $5000 for the third violation in 36 months; and 

• Suspend the license of an abortion facility, or the physician for 6 months for the 4th violation in 36 months.
