Highlights:

 

  • Requires law enforcement personnel, before releasing body camera footage to the public, to redact any portion of the footage containing images of a person who is not the subject of a law enforcement investigation or action, provided that any of the following apply (Sec. 1):

    • The person is located either in:

      • A private location that was not open to the public; or

      • A public location but the person expected privacy; or

    • The person is a victim or witness to the crime; or

    • The person was undressed in such a manner that their groin, buttocks, or breasts were exposed.

  • Specifies that these disclosure requirements do not apply if the person in question signed a waiver allowing law enforcement to release footage they are in (Sec. 1).
