Vote to pass a bill that expands which healthcare providers can grant COVID-19 vaccine exemptions.

Highlights:

 

  • Requires students to have done the following before they may be accepted to attend school as pupils (Sec.1): 

    • be immunized against varicella, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, poliomyelitis, rubella, mumps, and measles (rubeola);

    • be immunized against Haemophilus influenza type "b" before enrolling in a preschool if under 5 years of age;

    • Qualify for conditional attendance; or

    • File an exemption if they do not meet the above requirements

  • Allows students to attend school without getting immunizations if they file with the governing body of a school a notarized affidavit on a form prescribed by the department of health stating that immunization is contrary to the religious tenets and practices of the signer (Sec. 2).

  • Allows students to attend school without getting immunizations if they qualify for a medical exemption, whereby a qualified health care provider states that it may be physically unsafe for the student to receive all immunizations required for school attendance due to an underlying condition (Sec. 2).
