Vote to pass a bill that authorizes local government units to no longer publish their meeting proceedings.

Highlights:

• Specifies that if no newspaper is published in a district then a district board or city council may publish the meeting proceedings as they direct (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes a district board or city council to, instead of publishing meeting proceedings in a local newspaper, post the proceedings in at least one public place, and place the proceedings electronically on an internet site maintained by the district board or city council (Sec. 2).

• Requires a district board or city council to establish an electronic notification service to notify interested individuals and organizations each time proceedings are posted in public places and transmitted electronically (Sec. 4).

• Requires that the district board or city council maintain the proceedings placed electronically on their internet website for at least 3 years (Sec. 8).
