Title: Requires the Judicial Circuit to Create Diversion Programs
Vote to pass a bill that requires the judicial circuit to create diversion programs.
Authorizes counties to establish a community punishment and corrections program for state and county inmates or youth offenders in custody (Sec. 1).
Authorizes judges to assign inmates to corrections programs within the sentencing circuit if one does not exist in the county where the inmate was sentenced (Sec. 1).
Specifies that participation in community corrections programs is voluntary for authorizing entities, provided that each judicial circuit has at least one community punishment and corrections program in operation (Sec. 1).
Requires that a corrections program be put in place in every judicial circuit by January 1, 2022 (Sec. 2).
