Title: Authorizes Alcohol Home Delivery

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes alcohol home delivery.

Highlights:

 

  • Authorizes a delivery service licensee or employee to deliver and transport beer, wine, and spirits to an individual in Alabama who is at least 21 years old (Sec. 2).

  • Requires a restaurant retail liquor licensee to deliver the alcoholic beverages only if the individuals purchased a meal (Pg. 15).

  • Establishes licensing requirements for the following individuals (Pg. 17):

    • Reputable individuals, associations whose members are reputable individuals, or to reputable corporations under the laws of the State of Alabama; and

    • Individuals who have submitted a form providing written consent from the applicant for the release of criminal history background information and have provided two complete fingerprints.

  • Requires a separate license to be obtained by the retailer for each place where alcoholic beverages are sold (Pg. 18).

  • Limits all beer distribution, except for draft or keg beer, sold by retailers to 25.4 ounces in any container, bottle, or can (Pg. 19).

  • Authorizes the obtainment for a license if the applicant (Pg. 22):

    • Is 21 years of age or older;

    • Applies with the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board; 

    • Pays a nonrefundable filing fee of $100, and a licensing fee of $250; and

    • Provides to the board a sample contract to enter with a retailer for the delivery of beer, wine, and spirits, unless the applicant is a retailer, etc.
