Vote to pass a bill that authorizes advanced practice registered nurses (APRN) to provide independent care to rural communities.

Highlights:

• Defines a “collaborative or consultative relationship” as the act of communicating pertinent information, or consulting with a licensed physician or other licensed health care provider with each provider contributing respective expertise to optimize the overall care delivered to the patient (Sec. 2).

• Specifies that after completing 3,600 transition to practice hours, an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) shall be exempt from the requirement of entering and maintaining a collaborative or consultative relationship with a licensed physician and shall be licensed to provide independent care to individual patients (Sec. 3).
