Title: Appropriates Funds Related to Education
Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funds related to education and school closures.
Appropriates the following amounts in equalization assistance to charter schools (Sec. 15-185 (4)):
$1875.21 per student in preschool programs for children with disabilities, kindergarten programs and grades 1-8; and
$2185.53 per student in grades 9-12
Increases the base revenue level per student to $4307.53 for the 2020-21 fiscal year (Sec. 15-901 (17c.)).
Reduces the basic state aid funding apportioned to school districts statewide by $64,367,400 for the 2020-21 fiscal year (Sec. 27 (A)).
Reduces the amount of assistance funding apportioned to charter schools by $3,407,200 (Sec. 28).
Increases the transportation mileage reimbursement rate per student by in the following ways (Sec 3(A.5)):
A 2.74% reimbursement rate If the student was transported 0.5 miles or less;
A 2.24% reimbursement rate if the student was transported more than 0.5 miles through 1 mile; and
A 2.74 reimbursement rate if the student was transported more than 1 mile
Establishes the qualifying tax rate for the 2020 tax year as follows (Sec 4 (I)):
$1.8731 for a high school or common school district; and
$3.6741 for a unified school district
Requires $64,100,000 be appropriated to the Superintendent of Public Instruction For Basic State Aid each fiscal year (Sec 5.).
