Title: Rescinds the Prohibition on Alcohol Possession
Vote to amend and pass a bill that rescind the prohibition on alcohol possession.
Rescinds the prohibition of alcoholic beverages and authorizes the possession of wine and beer, so long as this possession does not include the intent to sell such products (Sec. 1).
Authorizes Mississippi counties to hold an election, most frequently, once every 5 years, to determine whether or not the storage, manufacture, transportation, sale, receipt, or distribution of wine and beer shall be lawful in said county (Sec. 7).
Establishes that it is lawful to (Sec. 7):
Sell, transport, and distribute beer and wine to a qualified resort area, so long as the vendor of such products has obtained a permit to partake in this business;
Transport beer of above 8% alcoholic content, so long as it is being transported to another state for legal sale; and
Transport of beer and wine in unopened containers, so long as the retailer has legally purchased such products and has obtained a permit from the wholesaler.
Authorizes any person, aged 21 years or older, in any Mississippi county, to make homemade wine for household consumption only (Sec. 8).
Establishes that this law will go into effect July 1, 2020 (Sec. 10).
