  • Appropriates funding to ensure 150 local food pantries purchase healthy, local food for more than 300,000 Coloradans (Sec. 1.2 b).

  • Specifies that grant awards must be at least $2,500 (Sec. 2.4 b).

  • Specifies that food purchased by a grant recipient using grant money must be designated as a Colorado agricultural product (Sec. 2.4 c).  

  • Authorizes grant recipients to use up to 20 percent of its grant award to cover the direct and indirect costs expenses associated with the distribution of food, including (Sec 2.4 c II):

    • a) Transportation;

    • b) Food delivery;

    • c) Expanding staff costs;

    • d) Refrigeration; and

    • e) Storage.

  • Appropriates $5 million from the General Fund to the Department of Health and Human Services (Sec. 3).
